The USA (United States of America) is a rich and powerful country in the continent of North America. It is made up of 50 smaller states and the capital city is Washington DC.. The USA is the world’s foremost economic and military power, with global interests and an unmatched global reach. The United States of America is the world’s third largest country in size and nearly the third largest in terms of population. America has borders with Canada to its north and borders Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. Alaska is situated in the extreme north west of America; because the islands of Hawaii are also part of the USA, the country extends into the Pacific Ocean too. Located in North America, the country is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean. The country is also a major source of entertainment: American TV, Hollywood films, jazz, blues, rock and rap music are primary ingredients in global popular culture. The United States of America (USA or US) is a diverse, multi-cultural country; its economy is the largest in the world.
